Expert: Mobile Internet users in Russia account for 25% of market
MOSCOW, Nov 1 (PRIME) -- The share of mobile Internet users in the country currently occupies at least a quarter of the market, Sergei Plugotarenko, director of the Russian Association for Electronic Communications (RAEC) said Tuesday at the Russian Interactive Week.
“Penetration of smartphones and available applications and services for them in the Runet (the Russian-speaking Internet) for a year has not been just comparable with penetration of personal computers: the Runet’s audience grows almost only thanks to mobile users. The mobile Internet is monthly used by some 62 million Russians,” Plugotarenko said.
Users’ preferences changed a lot in the sphere of content and service consumption as well, he said.
In all segments, mobile means account for at least a quarter of the market and up to 80–90% in certain spheres, like services or digital content. The share of users buying goods and services with the help of mobile devices is approaching 40%, Plugotarenko said.
